The Fox and Goose was the place where Cyril Davies started his musical journey. In 1955 it was the home of the Ealing Jazz Club which met every Friday night to listen and dance to the music of Steve Lane's Southern Stompers. Cyril played banjo, Steve Lane - trumpet, Colin Kingwell - trombone, Ian MacDonald/Stan Darlington - piano, Dave Hill - Sousaphone, Dave Golding/Mike Collins - drums . During the interval in the traditional jazz band's performance The Bob Watson Skiffle group played a mixturs of blues and folk songs. Cyril, Bob Watson and Jim Forey played guitar and Mike Collins played washboard.
